NAA Membership Categories
Full Member |
Eligibility for Full Membership:
(1) Former or serving personnel of Commonwealth Navies and Australia's Allies and declared partners thereof, provided that any separation from such service was not the result of an assessment of unsuitability or a breach of discipline.
(2) Former or serving Australian Naval Cadet (ANC) officers and instructors and declared partners thereof, and who have served as such for not less than two years, provided that any separation from the ANC was not the result of an assessment of unsuitability or a breach of discipline.
(3) Former or serving members of the ANC who have reached the age of 18 years and completed at least three years' service in the ANC, and declared partners thereof, provided that any separation from the ANC was not the result of an assessment of unsuitability or a breach of discipline.
(4) Former or serving personnel of any Commonwealth of Nations merchant naval service and declared partners thereof, who, in the performance of their merchant naval duties, have served in a war zone or other theatre of military operations.
(5) former or serving Australian Army and RAAF personnel who have been posted to HMA Ships and Establishments for at least six months.

Partner Membership |

The Partner Membership is available to a person eligible to become a Full Member and their declared partner (by marriage or de facto relationship) if they are both members of the same Sub-section and their fees are paid simultaneously in a single transaction. A Partner Member has the same rights as the Full Member except that the declared member shall not be elected to the position of President at any level.
Should the Full member predecease the declared partner then the declared partner will continue to be a Full member.
A person eligible for Full Membership and their Partner shall receive one free copy only of the White Ensign Magazine.

Associate Member |
A person who does not have naval service and not qualified for Full Membership but has served at sea or in a Naval establishment in a War Zone, in any capacity, is eligible to be an Associate Member.

Club Member |
The eligibility requirements for admitting persons to Club Membership of a Sub-section or Section must be prescribed in that Sub-section's Guidelines or Section's Regulations.

Honorary |
A person who is not eligible for Full Membership and who has rendered special service to the Association or who holds sufficient status in the community is eligible to be elected as an Honorary Member. An Honorary membership is for a twelve-month period and is renewed annually. Honorary Member may be elected by National Council, a Section Council or Sub-Section.

Social Member |
The following members are eligible to be a Social Member
(1) A full financial member of one Sub-section or Section may be elected as a Social Member of another Sub-section or Section by Ordinary Resolution at a General Meeting of the second Sub-section or Section.
(2) Social membership of another Sub-Section or Section is dependent upon continued financial membership of that members substantive Section or Sub-Section.
(3) Social Membership of another Sub-section or Section does not affect any obligations and privileges the member has in relation to that member's substantive Section or Sub-section.
(4) A Social Member may be elected to hold office in the Second Sub-Section or Section but may only hold office in one Sub-Section or Section.
By-Law 21 A does not apply to Social Members who are full members of the Association.
