NATIONAL EXECUTIVE MEETS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE TRIENNAIL CONFERENCE

The newly-elected National Executive met for the first time since being elected at the Triennial Conference held in Hobart, Tasmania between 28-Jul - 1 August 2008.

The purpose of the meeting was to sort out administrative and other communications questions following significant changes to the responsibilities on the executive.

Roger Tozer from Victoria has taken over as the National Secretary. In this role he has responsibility for the administration of the NAA.

Pat McKay, the current State Section Secretary for Queensland also takes on the responsibilities of Assistant National Secretary (Pat will also be undertaking many of the administrative functions associated with HMAS SYDNEY II matters).

Jim O'Connor was again elected to a Vice President position and resumes this role and also takes on the responsibilities of the senior National Vice President when required. In addition, JIm is also National Treasurer for another term.

Alex McNeill was again elected to a Vice President position and remains as the Deputy National Pensions and Welfare Coordinator.

Peter Cooke-Russell has been elected as a Vice President and retained his position as National Membership Registrar. Because of the residential requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act (ACT) Peter is also the Public Officer for the Naval Association of Australia.

Les Dwyer was re-elected as National President and has additional responsibilites as the Chairman of the Australian Warship / White Ensign Magazine Committee and National Pensions and Welfare Coordinator.

The meeting was held at Pine Rivers Sub Section, QLD on Saturday, 23 August 2008.
